outlook.com problem opening attachments

A bit of a personal one here and thought i'd ask before contacting MS or posting on their sites. A family member has been having problems opening attachments, mainly office ones but also PDF via outlook.com When trying to view the attachment online within outlook.com they get an error which says:

 

Microsoft Word Online

Sorry there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft Word.

 

I asked when this started to happen, they said its only started today / yesterday. It doesn't matter what browser they use or what machine they use (ive tested this on multiple machines with different browsers).

 

I can save the attachment to OneDrive and open from there and download the attachment without any problems.

We had this issue after the Christmas holidays. Had a call in with Microsoft sharepoint team. After a couple of months the issue kind of fixed itself. Suggest you contact Microsoft and capture the issue using fiddler.

How long? months? my family member will be pleased lol!

Around 6 weeks. It got moved between Microsoft departments.

I don't suppose you remember who you contacted or where you contacted MS can you?
