sparkeh Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Sats tests: Second paper published online 'by mistake' - BBC News Is this a new Government initiative to drive up results by letting everyone know what's in the test before they take it,[emoji14] 1
mikeprice Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 :mad:Huh quote The government has said it is determined to raise standards, and the tests reflected the "more rigorous curriculum", but the tests should not cause pupils stress. unquote I tried the example paper with my o/h last night - I went to an independant school in the 1960's - so we did a lot of grammer etc and that was way beyond anything I had done before. To get all the answers we needed Google. The kids here have no chance - and the stupid thing mostly test knowing what buzwords mean and not how to use English properly and don't even get me started on the marking scheme which is stupidly evil and then some idiot puts the paper online - even on a password protected site the whole thing is compromised NOT impressed with the whole thing
sparkeh Posted May 10, 2016 Author Posted May 10, 2016 Ok so this is interesting, apparently the paper was leaked deliberately to undermine the tests!? Sats test 'leaked by rogue marker' - BBC News
mikeprice Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Yes - but if you wanted to undermine the tests wouldn't you put it on a public site? seems a bit dubious to me - or am I being cynical???

Garacesh Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I tried the example paper with my o/h last night Is the mirror still active? I'd be very interested in taking a look and seeing what's on there.
Lonix Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I'm just waiting for the whole "blame IT" argument which seems to be a popular one or the "Computer Glitch". Bit like these footballers who accidentally tweet a picture of their expensive car and then claim it was an "Accident".

Duranis Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) From the sounds of it Pearson messed up and published the paper to the secure area of their site too early and one of the markers who had access to it tried to then pass it to the media. Yeah to be fair it should not have been anywhere that people could get to it yet but the real fault is with the person working as a marker who was supposed to be under contract to not be an idiot and leak confidential documents. I tried the example paper with my o/h last night - I went to an independant school in the 1960's - so we did a lot of grammer etc and that was way beyond anything I had done before. To get all the answers we needed Google. Don't take this the wrong way but kids are a LOT better educated now then they were 50-60 years ago. My youngest is in his last year of primary and is learning stuff that I hadn't been taught until I was 2 or 3 years older than he was (and I had a pretty good education). They learn things faster and better than I ever did and that was "only" 20-30 years ago. Honestly as long as the teachers and parents are doing things right I think the kids can cope just fine with it. Edited May 10, 2016 by Duranis
