MadSmiler Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hi, We have half our site on office 2016 while the rest on office 2013. The problem is there are 2 folders (microsoft office 2013 and microsoft office 2016) and i want to make it so in the start menu they only see the version of office which is on that computer. I have been told to sort this problem out but i can't think of a solution for it. Any help would be brilliant. Kappa in the chat. 123 Thanks Alex,
Michael Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 GPP Files and Item level targeting should do it. You can specify it looks for certain files/directories, or computer objects in certain OUs etc..
alfatec Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I have the same issue. With my Windows 10 deployment I have Office 2016 and 64bit workstations but my Windows 7 is 32 bit and Office 2013. I setup new group policies for folder redirection and put a WMI filter on them.
hallb15 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I have the same issue - its one of those things that would be nice to sort, but so many other things are higher up the priority list. I was going to look at Item level targeting by looking for the Office14 folder etc. If you target specific OUs that relies on you remembering to put the computer in an Office 2016 OU and can quickly get messy, hence why I would prefer the above method - just haven't had time to try it yet...
Stuajnht Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Hi all, If you're using a redirected start menu, you can try the steps here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/112607-office-shortcuts.html#post963750 Then just create a shortcut pointing to the (hidden) file with a relevant program icon (hidden) in the same folder. 1
