nicholab Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Please could all MIS makers look at putting an export all data button or process into their MIS system? Their needs to be a process to export out all key data in a reader able format.
localzuk Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Wow, that'd be horrendous! The amount of data in an MIS is huge, formatting it all into something human readable would be a nightmare! What do you define as key data? Probably differs to what we define as key data... So, disagree! 1
bobsmith Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 An actual export of all data? From a relational* database several gigs in size? In human readable format? *as relational as SIMS may or may not be. I agree that any data put in to a MIS should be extractable, which with the way the report library sometimes lags behind is an issue, but an "extract all" button just ain't gonna work.
GREED Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 ALL data? Gather you are moving MIS, or otherwise ditching one, can be the only reason for a blanket 'ALL data' request.
enjay Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Your definition of "key data" might not match mine... How about redesigning the data collection sheet to include what you want?
matt40k Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Yet to find a MIS system that actually holds all the data let alone be able to export it into a readable format - and no a 500 column spreadsheet doesn't count as readable!
nicholab Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Yep I just finished running 100 report to extract the data 72 were required to get attendance over 4 years. Also I had to stop the sql reporting service before running a new report as I had a ram limitation.
