Would SIMS Bulk Import be a viable option for correcting e-Mail addresses

We have identified an issue where historically the parental e-mail addresses had been stored, incorrectly, against the e-mail address details of the students.

Amongst the reasons we have for correcting this, despite the obvious like simply having it in the correct locations, having it there to be pulled out correctly for ParentMail and other applications, we have found that when SIMS ADP re-provisions students it tends to write this erroneous e-mail address back to AD and replaces the school address.

Given an export of e-Mail addresses from Active Directory, matching up against student details, could we conceivably move the existing erroneous e-mail address (probably that of the parent) into another e-Mail field such as 'Other' and replace it with the correct e-Mail address from AD?

Looking at the way that the application appears to function it doesn't update existing records and so I suspect that the answer is a resounding "no".

If that is the case has anyone come across a method of carrying out bulk operations like this through other means?

Afraid not, you could bulk import the correct one, then you'll have to run a report and manually remove them individually.

Thank you for the clarification, I suspected as much from reading around the site, but it was worth a punt if it saved the admins staff some of the more tedious work.
