720 vs 1080 - Small TVs

Quite a nice picture on the series 5 Samsungs. I'd advise turning down the backlight setting (which is a different setting to the brightness) to extend the life of the LEDs.

I just had this whole situation when moving house. Ended up paying £200 for a 40" Panasonic Viera for the lounge and I'm very happy with it. I shopped around for ages looking at 32's and researching, and wondering if I could stretch to a 40" and in the end saw this in Co-op while using the photo machine to renew my passport and bagged it there and then on a whim, turned out to be a good move!

What's the model number ? Chances are it's a Vestel just rebranded with the Panasonic name.

Check your backlight setting and turn it down some. Vestel are well known for failing LEDs.

Odd, looking at the model number of my old TV everywhere is saying it's only a HD Ready model........when it connects on ps3 and ps4 etc at 1080p...

So after a bit of consultation with the OH, we think a new style TV at 32" would suit us, as opposed to the gargantuan toshiba offering I have at the moment, with this in mind, i am probably looking towards Full HD. I have found this one, and it comes with a gaming mode? Can anyone top this? Or see any reason why i should avoid it?

I've noticed the same one my old Sony, the xbox one sees it as 1080p when I know for a fact it only supports 1080i

Slightly annoying.... What i want to know is how does it actually play the content, surely if it's only HD Ready it wont play at 1080p even if it says it is?

What's the model number Tesla ? It might detect 1080p but only be displaying at 720. There is also HD Ready 1080p.

HD Ready is actually a term created which measures on PPI and not resolution. So a TV could be 480p as long as the screen size was small enough to create enough PPI they could market it as HD Ready.

Abillybob - HD Ready TVs in Europe have to be capabale of 720 horizontal lines of resolution. 480 was a resolution found on old Plasma TVs.
