chrispounds Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Hi there, We have installed osTicket on an external web server provider (pickaweb) Trying to get email notifications working i.e clients get emails with ticket confirmation, updates etc. we use office 365 exchange and im not sure how i would go about setting this up? Does anyone have any ideas? especially when it comes to the SMTP portion, cheers! Chris
synaesthesia Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 You'll need to have the relevant port for 365 open to use that as a relay for osticket - 587 SSL if I recall correctly.
chrispounds Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Ok will give it a go, thanks for the tip!
chrispounds Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Well i opened the port, still nothing, even sent to an external gmail address, seems like the email never left our mail server! Could be something on the Providers end? stopping mail services? but i doubt it, allthough just been told by network manager all our mail is dependant on them..
Cache Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Well the mailserver in OSTicket will need to be set to outlook.office365.com using port 587 and it will require a username/password which either needs to be the email address you are sending from or an account with permission to send as that address. Edit: Who is your provider out of interest? 1
chrispounds Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) Managed to sort it using TLS and port 587? had to change it to smtp.office365.com also. Now the e-mail is all up and running and they might want to change it! hurrah for education! the hoster is pickaweb, but it seems the problem was our end with the setup of the SMTP anyway! I'm just evaluating osticket and struggling to get SMTP to work. My settings are as follows; Hostname: smtp.office365.com Port #: 587 Authentication Required: yes I get the following error; Failed to connect to smtp.office365.com:587 [sMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection timed out (code: -1, response: )] Could you confirm the exact settings used @chrispounds

nathan Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Weird, i didn't change anything but it's just started to work. Well according to ostickets, haven#t receieved an email yet. On to setting up a cron for checking emails then!
chrispounds Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 I found i didn't really need a Cron as i wasn't using an email to ticket service, could always produce a test ticket to see if it is all running ok!
nathan Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 When it's on "fetch on auto-cron" it works, but this means a user has to be logged into the ticketing system for it to grab emails using IMAP. Using normal cron it doesn't after i've set it up in cpanel. SMTP doesn't seem to be working either, when configuring the settings it's ok. But if i send a test email it never arrives.
nathan Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 scrap that, i had disabled SMTP in the osticket settings. thats why it tested them asok when saving the settings - not my finest hour (is it time to go home yet?) i continue to get the same error despite having the same settings as above.
chrispounds Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Can you post a grab of your settings? Strange that it isn't working, nothing on your firewall blocking the port traffic?
robsonma Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 We use OS Ticket and dont have anything on the settings, we are on Google Mail.
chrispounds Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 But i imagine as you are using Gmail, nothing is being routed locally, which is the issue Nathan is having with 365 and TSL
chrispounds Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 also @nathan some Hosting providers don't allow use of external SMTP servers, you would have to check with them if they allow this - there is a help page on osTicket Email settings - osTicket Under Outgoing E-mails.
ptotham Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 anyone come across this when trying to get emails working
wickedweasal Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 @ptotham Did you ever get to the bottom of this error? I am trying to get osTicket working with office365 and getting the same error. Thanks
synaesthesia Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 We had a similar error until we updated to the latest version (1.10) today and office365 just worked, same settings as you although we allowed header spoofing.
wickedweasal Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 @synaesthesia odd I am running 1.10 and office 365 will not work at all, unable to send any emails, do you have authentication enabled?. If I turn this on I get an error saying SMTP server does not support authentication.
wickedweasal Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 very odd my settings are exactly the same as yours but I still get the error when saving the settings, I guess I will have to check my office365 configuiration and see if that is where the problem lies. @synaesthesia thanks for providing your settings though.

Is it not anything to do with your hosting? any missing modules etc?
