Hi there,

We have installed osTicket on an external web server provider (pickaweb)

Trying to get email notifications working i.e clients get emails with ticket confirmation, updates etc.

we use office 365 exchange and im not sure how i would go about setting this up? Does anyone have any ideas? especially when it comes to the SMTP portion,

cheers!

Chris

Well i opened the port, still nothing, even sent to an external gmail address, seems like the email never left our mail server! Could be something on the Providers end? stopping mail services? but i doubt it, allthough just been told by network manager all our mail is dependant on them..

Well the mailserver in OSTicket will need to be set to outlook.office365.com using port 587 and it will require a username/password which either needs to be the email address you are sending from or an account with permission to send as that address.

Edit: Who is your provider out of interest?

Managed to sort it using TLS and port 587? had to change it to smtp.office365.com also. Now the e-mail is all up and running and they might want to change it! hurrah for education!

the hoster is pickaweb, but it seems the problem was our end with the setup of the SMTP anyway!

I'm just evaluating osticket and struggling to get SMTP to work. My settings are as follows;

Hostname: smtp.office365.com

Port #: 587

Authentication Required: yes

I get the following error;

Failed to connect to smtp.office365.com:587 [sMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection timed out (code: -1, response: )]

Could you confirm the exact settings used @chrispounds

Hi Nathan,

Sure, my settings are as follows, all i had to make sure was that the e-mail information was correct and the account existed withing 365.

Weird,

i didn't change anything but it's just started to work. Well according to ostickets, haven#t receieved an email yet. On to setting up a cron for checking emails then!

When it's on "fetch on auto-cron" it works, but this means a user has to be logged into the ticketing system for it to grab emails using IMAP. Using normal cron it doesn't after i've set it up in cpanel.

SMTP doesn't seem to be working either, when configuring the settings it's ok. But if i send a test email it never arrives.

scrap that, i had disabled SMTP in the osticket settings. thats why it tested them asok when saving the settings - not my finest hour (is it time to go home yet?)

i continue to get the same error despite having the same settings as above.

very odd my settings are exactly the same as yours but I still get the error when saving the settings, I guess I will have to check my office365 configuiration and see if that is where the problem lies.

@synaesthesia thanks for providing your settings though.

Is it not anything to do with your hosting? any missing modules etc?
