Dos_Box Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 After 10 years Microsoft have finally stopped producing the Xbox 360. They are however, still supporting it for some time to come. TBH, once the Xbox One came out I'm surprised they continued to manufacture and sell it! Xbox 360 games console discontinued by Microsoft - BBC News
ZeroHour Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Its even less of an issue with the backwards compatibility for a growing number of games.
Norphy Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) TBH, once the Xbox One came out I'm surprised they continued to manufacture and sell it! I see what you mean but it's not unprecedented. The PS3 was brought out in 2006 but the PS2 didn't get discontinued until 2012 according to Wikipedia. The PS3 was only discontinued in September last year as well. Even the original PlayStation was sold for five years after the PS2 came out! Edited April 20, 2016 by Norphy
twin--turbo Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 There is always a market for the non bleading edge, and some market areas last longer than others.. I have only just got a 360 ( original no HDD white one ) Supplements our 2 Wii, PS2, and Xbox Crystal.. ( I have a spare 360 too as they are so darn unreliable) TT

( I have a spare 360 too as they are so darn unreliable) TT We only got an Xbox 360 a year or so back (orginal white version) and grabbed a cheap aftermarket HDD for it from Ebay. It is still a good console with a great back catalogue of games to dive into but I'll be looking at an Xbox One this summer I think once they nail down the backwards compatability. I suppose a certain amont of credit must be given to Sony and Microsoft for their last-gen console support. Something Nintendo could do well to heed!
Norphy Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) Something Nintendo could do well to heed! The original Wii had backward compatibility with Gamecube games (admittedly, newer versions dropped this) and the Wii U can play Wii games. Game Boys always had good backwards compatibility and the DS could play GBA games. The 3DS can play DS games. All things considered, I don't think Nintendo do badly at backwards compatibility at all! CAM Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 And they have Virtual Console on the Wii U, so you can pick up old games that were once rivals to Nintendo's own systems before many of their gamers were even born.

Take secret of mana as an example its on the wii virtual console but not wiiu so to play it id have to drop wiiu into wii mode and use a horrid wiimote and no off tv play either
