Backup exec, prevent use of particular backup

Greetings,

 

I wish to somehow remove a recent daily backup from being used or mark it in a way that it cannot be used in the future. Is this a possibility? We had a ransomware attack on a client which affected files on network shares. By the time this was noticed the daily backup had already taken place so I don't really want that backup to be used in future.

 

Any help would be appreciated

Do you want to preserve it, or stop it from being potentially restored?

I'd like to stop it from being restored ideally.

Best option would be to erase the media.

I don't think that's going to be possible as its on a tape with other backups

Ah... with shared media I think your options are pretty limited. It's been a while since I last used Backup Exec, but I don't think it's possible.

I didn't think so either. Its s shame there is no way to mark it as unusable or not to be restored. Thanks anyway
