jjohnsoncantell Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Greetings, I wish to somehow remove a recent daily backup from being used or mark it in a way that it cannot be used in the future. Is this a possibility? We had a ransomware attack on a client which affected files on network shares. By the time this was noticed the daily backup had already taken place so I don't really want that backup to be used in future. Any help would be appreciated
pantscat Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Do you want to preserve it, or stop it from being potentially restored?
jjohnsoncantell Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 I'd like to stop it from being restored ideally.
jjohnsoncantell Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 I don't think that's going to be possible as its on a tape with other backups - - - Updated - - - a b2d not tape, sorry
pantscat Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Ah... with shared media I think your options are pretty limited. It's been a while since I last used Backup Exec, but I don't think it's possible.
jjohnsoncantell Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 I didn't think so either. Its s shame there is no way to mark it as unusable or not to be restored. Thanks anyway
