Virtual Machine for Sophos EC and an admin server

We have an old HP ML350G5 which currently runs our admin network of around 15 computers.

I also have a redundant ML650 G6 with one Xeon E5504 @2ghz and 6gb of ram, plus 4 x 500gb hdds.

 

I thought it would be sensible to use this to virtualise a version of Server 2012 for admin and another version of Server 2012 for Sophos EC, however, this system is just not going to have the resources to do this. I have used VMware ESXI and it looked like it would work really well.

 

Can anyone tell me what they think I should do? We have limited budget, and I just have the feeling that by the time I mess around trying to source an additional processor, ram, hdds and a rack mount kit for this model (which is already getting on), it might just be easier to get a new HP model.

Speak to Dave at ICT Direct. A RAM bump should get that going as a virtual host - yes it's old, but transferring VMs to a newer one in the future with ESXi is nice and easy. For two guests, even that single CPU should suffice (I ran five medium load VMs from a single quad core ESXi host for years).
