visioN Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Hi all, I have a situation where someone has created a fake facebook account and is writing derogatory comments on our facebook wall and writing other comments. What can I do about this? Can I find out somehow who the actual person is someway? Thanks!
Joanne Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Report them to facebook. Go to their profile page and there should be a button to report. Then block them from the page.
rickjames Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Put the kettle on and wait for it to all blow over...
visioN Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks for the replies! Is there anyway to find out who it is? Involving the police perhaps?
elsiegee40 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks for the replies! Is there anyway to find out who it is? Involving the police perhaps? Unless there is criminal intent in the posts - threats of violence, arson, safeguarding issue etc then I doubt the police will get involved. Facebook won't dig further. Basic defamation of the school is a matter for facebook to resolve by closing the account. Get as many people as possible to report it. We have had success on Edugeek with Edugeeks mass reporting for a school before now.
visioN Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 This is for a private company. A member of staff was dismissed during their probation period. They have a court case saying they were dismissed for a disability. But it looks like they have created this fake fb account to voice all this and say the company are crap etc. So it would be useful if i could get some proof of who it is. Not sure if it is possible though
Arreks Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 No, you can't get proof of who it is nor will FB provide any information about the user to you. Nor to the Police unless there is a criminal investigation.

However, gather all the evidence you can for passing to the company's solicitors by whoever is dealing with the dismissal.
