start menu redirection for 32bit and 64bit computers mixed environment

Currently my work environment has 32bit windows 8.1 installed on all computers except for mine and my technicians. Over the last year every computer I have purchased has only come with 64bit drivers, which is leading me to the point of looking at deploying 64 bit os, but unfortunately not all of the computers onsite will be able to run a 64bit OS. Basically I am wondering if I create two separate group policies for users start menu redirection but use a wmi query (one applying to win 8.1 32bit and one to 64bit) to differentiate the program shortcuts at login will this work?

yes its how ive done it in the past with a mixed estate. Honestly id be tempted to rebuild anything that will take it to x64 anyway it would have to be pretty old not to be able to take an x64 os. Cant remember the last time i used a 32bit os at work

That is exactly how I have my start menus configured for Windows 7 and works fine. Just a bit of a pain having to maintain two sets of shortcuts.
