Jawloms Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Does anyone know where I can look for grants I could apply for on behalf of the school for IT kit? I've tried Googling, but the only results I can find are grants I could apply for as a parent from a school. I'm not sure what to search for. Thank you Stuart
elsiegee40 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 As far as I am aware there are none going and there haven't been for some time. Where funds are limited, the best I can suggest is ICT Direct
Popular Post korifugi Posted March 23, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 23, 2016 This is the only Grants I've ever seen while working in I.T. AND I had to pay for my own. 5
unixman_again Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 The first school that I was at received a grant from the Wolfson Foundation for a computer room. There is a load of info on their website. 2
witch Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 We ask local big companies to help - eg fund matching, that sort of thing. It helps if you have parents etc who work there. Barclays have been very good to the local schools over the years - for us it is a huge local employer. Have you got anything like that? It is worth putting out a request to parents to see if their employers can help - quite a lot of companies do get involved with local schools and you never know what you might get! 1
kevin_lane Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 found this the other day we have had grants from Wolfson Foundation, we have used them twice for different requirements. this time we brought 35 Mac minis and also 40 laptops for our technology I think in total across both time we have about 100K, but that don't account for all the upgrades and laptops that need replacing, as we are a large school we currently have over 1,080 devices and the amount of IT equipment that needs sorting is just wait beyond my budget. I know schools are on a tight budget but sometimes its really hard to deal with the increase demands. and I think sometimes SLT and governess forget this I know they want the best results but we need the resources i.e. money to go along with helping them increase the results https://www.grants4schools.info/page/case-studies/#equipment 1
Jawloms Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 My school is in the middle of a field in Suffolk. The biggest company near me is the Co-op, followed by a hardware shop and a couple of pubs. Good plan though. We have kids from well funded backgrounds so it's worth a shot. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Looks like you have to be an Outstanding School to get a grant from them.
synaesthesia Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Sounds rather like politics these days. Only interested in helping those that don't really need it.
kevin_lane Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 @synaesthesia your right it is all politics and it's a shame really
