Home Network folder permission

Hi, I have recently been setting up some Macs we have here, and am running into a few issues. The main issue at this minute is student personal network folders, admins folders work perfectly, but anyone who doesn't have admin rights on the server through Windows just gets the error message "you don't have permission to access this server". Does anyone know how to get around this?

 

My set up is: 7 Macs running El Capitan, 1 used as server running OS X Server with OD, DNS, Web and PM set up.

 

In PM under directory, I don't have force local home dir on start up checked

And am currently using the Use UNC Path for home location

Do no have any other network mounts

And am using Mobility accounts (I have on start up volume checked, unsure if related to anything)

 

 

There are a few other issues I need to work out, if anyone has any throw in on them: OD DNS properly not functioning after installing the profile (when there is no installed profile on clients I can access the server from clients by using the server name, but after being enrolled etc I only can through IP)

 

Profile manager does not automatically update anything after the machines has been enrolled, and just sits on pending in active tasks, so all profiles are done manually currently. (Also DNS related maybe?)

 

Users can see and access some network devices, including teacher machines and NAS boxes.

Apple level of support for networked homes in Profile Manager is zero, you will get numerous errors over time and this is down to an SMB bug between Apple's version of SMB and MS's, Apple have no fix for this issue. Check the numerous problems below...

You'd would be better off not binding the Macs to AD and instead create a script using automator so that students have to manually mount drives

 

Profile Manager is not an ideal solution either I'm afraid to create and push profiles it will just sit there with pending tasks, I would use Casper Suite instead..
