.sch.uk domain server questions..anyone?

Hi All,

 

Here's the official response from nominet....

 

In order to apply for a .sch you will need to have the geographical area

as part of the domain name as prestonprimary.sch.uk is not a .sch domain

name. As in the .stockton.sch.uk meets the requirements for showing the

geographical area part of the domain name.

 

The domain name therefore needs to read schoolname.geographicalarea.sch.uk

And I thought all sch domains were registered at RM but maybe I'm wrong on this one.

Nominet hold them and you give them the IPS tag to your host and away you go!!

I wanted to host our school website on LGFL. It was just a HTML Dreamweaver template site. To get the sch.uk name hosted/pointed at LGFL, we would have been charged £90 admin. As it happens the website never took off, but I've since managed to get the JOOMLA Edugeek package going and so will tout that round the teachers and support staff when I get back. Then I'll probably host it on RM anyway.
