Hi

I have been asked to draw up a plan for if our school wanted to transition to being cloud based for the majority of everything. Email, servers, documents, backups, VLE etc.

Has anyone else done anything like this that they would be able to share?

I have seen schools broadband offer a cloud server based option called RapidVM. Does anyone use this?

Thanks

I've been asked to come up with one as well. Someone up high wants one of my server rooms (the larger one) but there isn't enough room to fit everything into the other two.

I've been asked to compare the benefits drawbacks of O365/Azure and GAfE - my manager is not keen on doing both. I've signed up with both but haven't done any testing yet

Good Morning,

I am in the same posiiton as looking at having a hybrid solutions where it is local and cloud for speed issues. I have been looking at the azure servers with the AD connect option but not sure for cloud stroage of the data as in build a big file server with a few TB for data storage or look at adata stroage that can then link to the Azure servers as that might be cheaper but could make it complicated.

Was seeing how far you have got into this and what ideas you could share.

Thanks

Interesting that I too have been thinking about a plan. Would certainly have to be in stages, do I consider going to the system that has the most largest content e.g. Data. Do I consider going email/exchange, which would certainly stop us needing a new server at some stage. Especially when it can all link to Office 365...

Then I remember our internet down time periods and back to the whole "putting your eggs in one basket". We are doing a broadband review so our plan will be relooked at after that.

Anyone have any contacts / suppliers that might be worth speaking to about this? I have seen the MS Azure servers but again getting my head around how it all works is a bit of a head scratcher.

Hi there, we offer WaveConnect - a hybrid cloud server platform on a low capex basis and include migration and configuration services where required to fit with your skillsets. The solution allows you to integrate with o365/AD, utilise cloud for backup but retain local services where necessary (file/print/local shares) It includes additional VMs for you to host your own applications and services if required.

Happy to provide some info and guidance if you;re interested,

regards
