Hi Im just curious,

Is there such a program that will leave a message (of my choice) for staff when they login.

then they just click ok when they have read this?

im aware that there is a setting in GPO but thats upon start up of the computer. but this is no good for me, i need to target individual members of staff.

thanks

im running windows 7 x64 bit clients

I started by thinking that something like an AUP would do the job. But reading your post again it seems like you might not want the same message to go to all [selected] users and once a message has been read you might not want it to appear again. Like a mailbox but read only [no reply] Is this correct?

Yes thats correct. its a read once only. click ok and its gone and wont re apear on next reboot / log in.

I want to be able to send reminders to staff for various reasons. i could send them all an email but they dont read / check their emails every day.

now with a pop up message they have to read the message before they can continue

OK. Send your E-Mail and set up an AUP with the message:

You could run a scheduled task and point it to a VBScript whereby you could enter in a message? This along with item-level targeting would only allow the message to be displayed to specific users, security groups, OU's etc.

We have this in our environment so that when any user logs into any of our RDS Servers we remind them to logoff at the end of their session.

Best,

Tom
