Ive got a chromebook to play with and as one of my schools has 2 gafe sites (they decided after i set the first one up the url was far too long) i was going to use the spare one to play with managing chromebooks. I know you need to purchases a license but how do you do this (and ideally can i just but a google play card or do i need to give it a credit card number) i literally need 1 lic for testing just to see what you can/cant do to see if chromebooks are something worth looking at (and atm unless they start supporting android apps i suspect the answer is no as they are just too limiting)

We have just had a class set arrive and deployed them yesterday. The licensing was included with the Chromebooks from our supplier. If you give google a call they can get you in touch with suppliers for the licenses and will help with any sort of management of them you require.

We will see how they go with our class set of them. The rest of the year group has iPads 1 to 1 and they are a nightmare to manage or create anything on.

weve just got 1 as a test so i doubt the supplier would give us a license (esp as were a 3rd party support company rather than a school). So is the license basically like a windows sticker you get a something with a code on and add that to gafe?

The way the licenses work is that you buy a license for £19 from a supplier (misco, BT, XMA etc).

They then assign it to you GAFE domain. You then enrol the chromebook on login to the domain. Once it is enrolled it uses a license.

The licenses are perpetual but can transfer to different devices.

We are currently trialling GAFE & Chromebooks. Contact Roger Slade at Getech Schools - Contact They supplied us with 5 licences via normal school PO and they lent us 15 Chromebooks for a months trial, just needed to cover the costs of the return.

as above im not with a school im part of a 3rd party support company. I wasnt sure how licenses were bought the site is vauge just saying basically give us name/address and we will get back to you. From what been said i should be able to get one through one of our normal suppliers its just knowing that
