Smoothwall e-Safety Masterclasses--anyone else going?

Anyone else off to the Smoothwall e-Safety things going on this year? I've just signed up for the Cambridge one on 16 May. I don't often get to many EduGeeky things from way over here in the sticks, so I might actually get to meet some of you for once!

Cambridge bit to far for us, more than likely Bristol if we decide to go.

I get the impression there might be a hidden sales pitch fo rthe new product in this lot.

I think it's the presentation they did at BETT. Bound to have a sales pitch involved, but @robk said it was interesting

If it's the bett presentation it's new features to the existing product. There may well be more to it than that however.

Yeah, discussing some new features, but some of those features are free to existing customers, so I would like to know, and the new paid features seem to be more or less what Securus does. And, frankly, if it's a good alternative, I'll be tempted, price depending.

 

Couple of other speakers as well, though. And lots of miles at that lovely HMRC rate, which is about 4 x what it actually costs me in fuel. If nothing else, at least I'll get my week's diesel paid for!

Im going to the one in leeds on 16th March. Ill post back with how it was, though was told it could be a sales pitch too.

 

We have seen / got the Framlingham release and have been asked how it can be improved. So far our North Yorks Network Managers group has got a fairly meaty list on improvements needed.

The MI5 analysis tool was interesting, they monitor every single thing that the kid does on any device and report back to Google, I mean their HQ who send alert through if kids have been naughty.

 

Its not a SW tool, its an addon and that sales pitch was quite long and I needed a pee.

i attended the session yesterday, was very good and really informative. the new safeguarding reports look good, and there they are looking to take the product looks very promising!

The reporting does look good but needs some work to be done on it. I tried it out as Phil was talking about it as i had seen the presentation before from a few weeks ago when he showed us the developments whilst they were been prepared.

 

The links need to be clickable or have an inage of whats been captured.

 

Local reporting users need to be able to drill down into students, at the moment local users get kicked out of the reports (feature request in smoothwall.uservoice.com)
