nelliott Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Does anyone have a installation guide for SCCM 2012? Have tried to follow a guide I found online but I'm now unsure if it is working correctly, the AD discovery seems to be working but the SCCM client install keeps failing no matter what way I try to deploy it (have tried push install/window update). Any help and advice would be much appreciated.
AJWhite1970 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Two sites I used when I set mine up over Christmas were http://prajwaldesai.com/sccm-2012-r2-step-by-step-guide/ http://sccmentor.com/2014/01/08/sccm-2012-r2-step-by-step-installation-guide/ HTH
nelliott Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 Thanks @AJWhite1970, I've followed the 2nd link and have now got it installed, however the following roles have listed as critical under the status Management Point Application Catalog Website Point Application Catalog Web Service Point Does any one have any ideas how I can resolve this?
SHimmer45 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I used the links that @AJWhite1970. also found a selection of resources on petenetlive.com which although for sccm 2007 were useful as well. I have / had it running on a test box and was impressed with some of the features, especially the software inventory (very handy for querying if packages rolled out by AD actually made it to the machine) with getting the client installed the account which your are using to install it with needs local admin rights, i had an issue where i was waiting for it to push the client out but my test machine wasnt in the correct OU which SCCM was monitoring:rolleyes: it is a beast of an application / service it does have a built in log reader (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools) which is will give you an idea of what it is grumbling about.

Uninstall those roles. Then, re-install one at a time, reboot, check it's OK and then continue to the next one.
