Software to make intranet

What programs/softwares do you user for your schools intranet? Our school already have one but our staff/teacher not very active in using it. We're currently using Wordpress.

I use a good IDE called Brackets to build, I suppose the underlying software is IIS+PHP+MySQL

I've just built one using Serif WebPlus, took me probably a day using one of the 'out of the box' templates. It's nothing fancy, just a few graphical links and some embedded documents, but it really doesn't need to be for most staff/pupils (KISS!). Hosted on an apache VM.

How about the design, I've seen your Intranet thread and the design was really good. You also have calendar. Did you build it from scratch?

What does it need to do? We just have ours as an offshoot of our website with the same Wordpress theme and works very well.

You can build what you want, it's just an editor to write code in. Our intranet includes all sorts of things such as student profiles, suggestion boxes, remembered auto filled search, our new reward coins catalogue, detentions, attendance and timetables from SIMS etc.

The design is custom and staff calendars yes. Yes from scratch in PHP.
