The_IT_Guy Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Hi We currently have our staff on one Office 365 tennant and students on another one. I want to merge them onto the same tennant so students and staff can start using the collaborative features. Our students have a different email domain and i have seen how i can add that without issues to the staff tennant. But i do not want the students to see the address book that staff can. Is there a way to stop this? e.g. If domain = @school.student.co.uk hide address book. Thanks
Boredguy Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 You can create a new GAL for your students, which is what we did. I followed the guide here -> https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/educloud/2013/04/15/alumni-address-book-policy-in-office-365-education/ and just replaced the Alumni information for Student When we create student accounts via Powershell, we automatically add them to the new mailbox policy which has the assigned GAL. We did add teaching staff into the Students GAL as well as staff complained that the students could not find them to e-mail work, and so far it's been fine for the last couple of years. 2
clareq Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I've set up separate GALs for staff and students, following this guide: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/educloud/2013/04/15/alumni-address-book-policy-in-office-365-education/ However, all users are still seeing all users and groups. What have I missed?
clareq Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Looks like I just needed some patience. All working now.
