timlineuk Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Hi All, Can anyone tell me what stupid ting i'm doing/not doing please?! I need to update the SIMS connect.ini file which in part on my network needs to be "manually" updated, the rest can be done with SOLUS. I've created a new GPO and added the file to the files section of the computer GPP; source files: \\school\netlogon\SIMS\connect.ini Destination: C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\Connect.ini I've checked from both ends that the file is accessible and also done a manual copy, all or which work fine. when i reboot the client the event viewer shows me that it is attempting to apply the preference but says "Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code 0x80070035 the network path was not found" What am i missing???! Thanks
MatthewL Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Are you running this as a user policy as it may need to be a startup script due to permissions as the standard user would not be able to write to Program Files possibly?
timlineuk Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 No, as a computer policy so it should be using system permissions
gshaw Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Could be failing due to using the short name of the domain on the netlogon path rather than FQDN?
timlineuk Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Ah possibly... that's its DFS namespace so might well require FQDN
timlineuk Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Maybe one step forwards then as the warning message has gone from the event viewer, however it's still not applying!
gshaw Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 What action have you got on the File action i.e. Create, Replace, Update?
timlineuk Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 OK, yes that's done the trick. It also appears that it needs to be set to Replace rather than just update. Thought update would be fine but clearly not!
timlineuk Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Many thanks - hopefully the migration will appear seamless to users next week! Apart from FMS which has removed login names!!!
