mike86 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Hi We moved our moodle to new server, have changed the port forwarding and source mapping to the new ip address. We can connect externally but not internally. Have checked DNS settings and we haven't got any, although it was working both ways on the old server, so I imagine it's something in the firewall. I can get this to work by adding the address to the host file on windows machines, however on iPads etc this is an issue. As sods law will have it our network manager is off this week & i'm not too well up on where any additional settings within the smoothwall will be? Any ideas? Thanks
RobD Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Add an A record into DNS for the site, that should allow it resolve internally. 1
mike86 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 I'm aware this is the way you would usually do it but the old server didn't have any DNS entries internally, so i'd imagine this is something to do with the smoothwall settings?! Any ideas?
Achandler Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 You can set Smoothwall to redirect certain sites. I can't remember where though or how. Personally I would use internal DNS to redirect it though as it simple the better option. 1
foofighterjim Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Are your clients using transparent or non-transparent proxy? I had this issue with our Citrix server when clients were using the non-transparent proxy.
mike86 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Had a word with man in charge and going to put a zone in DNS hopefully that will do the trick.
