Office365 for education subscription not recognised by latest Android/iOS apps?

I've tested this on an iPad and a Nexus 5. We have the free Office365 education licenses assigned to valid accounts on both devices and all can view Office365 documents on Android/iPad using the new Excel, Word & Powerpoint apps but when we try to save/upload a document, I get told to log into an account with a valid Office365 subscription (even though we're already logged in).

 

Should the error be "hey you need to give us cash or this won't work" or has anyone got it working with the free tier?

Unless you have ProPlus included in your license then you can't do this.

if you go to https://portal.office.com/start?sku=78e66a63-337a-4a9a-8959-41c6654dfb56 you should be able to register your school for free office 365 pro (dosent work for all schools one of mine it just says no and i cant get a sensible answer from ms i cant even get anyone to understand what i want just get to play pass the phonecall)
