Screen Sharing and Video Demonstration

Currently we use AB Tutor Control to screen share and do teacher demonstrations to student PCs in our ICT Suite. However, it is completely impossible to demo any video using this method. The video just ends up completely choppy and goes frame by frame. Also, there is a highly noticeable frame lag too when it comes to screen demonstrations as well, even when the teacher moves the mouse or switches from one application to the next.

 

Is there any (reasonably priced) software available out there that will allow us to successfully demonstrate video and general applications without this lag? I'm not too fussed about sound as this can play from the speakers from the teacher PC audio out.

Thanks for the mention Rob. Always conscious Vendors are here to answer questions rather than be too quick to promote. Hi Zoom7000, NetSupport School does include a number of screen sharing options. You can Share a Teachers Screen to show to all students, show just a selected application on their desktop to to all students, or share a students screen to show to the rest of the class ( to highlight best practice). We also include an option called Show Video, which can be used to syncronise video playback from a teachers PC for the rest of the class to view. As you would expect performance does link to lots of factors - wired / wireless, colour depth / video quality selected etc, but we are used to showing video in real time on typically 40 PCs in a wired classroom and animated PPTs on up to 50 laptops in a wireless setting.

 

You can also record any sessions so you retain a video file of all your activity which you can then use in future lesson plans.
