SISRA vs 4MATRIX. What to purchase?

Isn't all the data in your MIS anyway? If not you can easily export the grades from each series to a spreadsheet.

Recent data is in SIMS but older data that they sometimes use to compare wasn't transferred from our old MIS when we moved into SIMS. I've seen that you can export some data from 4matrix but are the progress 8 scores calculated different between 4matrix and Sisra if we were to reimport the data?

No, you just need the raw grades, which you can export from the admin login. If you want Sisra to calculate Progress 8 for you you'll obviously need the students' KS2 data as well. This is in the markbook screen if it's not in your new MIS.

Proper P8 is calculated the same in all analysis software, though they all have their own way of making up Subject P8.

Proper P8 is calculated after the event using the DfE's A8 data.

 

But BEFORE the national results are all in and collated we're all guessing.

 

oh and to stay completely on-topic, used both, 4matrix was superior for presentation of data, it had some really cool features, but SISRA wins for ease of use and flexibility

 

the calculation of P8 is really super easy - but the A8 estimate you use is whatever you choose to use, sisra/4 matrix/me with my excel spreadsheet can all get different P8 values for the same student.

Agreed, but we're talking about old cohorts with known A8 estimates.

In that context then you are entirely correct.

I'd question why you would need to retain aged datasets - you exam cohorts and results will be available on perf tables or ASP etc etc.
