Novalee Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 So I've got a problem with a PoE IP camera not connecting, not showing as online etc. It did this before and we reset it completely to factory defaults and reconfigured it and that seemed to solve it. But it only lasted a short time before it went again. It seem to flicker between off and online every couple of seconds. Looking at the switch it connects through, the port it's on is showing a very high number of Rx errors (over 2000!). Any clues? Thanks!
Michael Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 In simple terms, it means the data integrity cannot be validated, hence the error. This of course will most likely relate to a bad cable or bad termination either end.
GeekyPete Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Rx is shorthand for Receiving in the same way that Tx is shorthand for Transmitting. So the switch is getting errors on the data it's receiving from the device. Try a different device to eliminate the camera. Swap out the patch cables and test. Try a different port. If all that fails test the cable run with a fluke or similar.
