Chuckster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 We have a mixture of iPads and Android tablets about the school. I would like these to be able to access our shared drives. What would be the best way for me to do this? I have tried Tonido today and I am unable to create an account. Every username I have tried keeps popping up as unavailable, so my guess is that's out the window.
sted Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 if you have 2012r2 server work folders might work (not quite what its designed for but could be coopted into doing a shared drive rather than a users home drive)
Chuckster Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 @sted, have you tried this successfully? What working solution do you have in place?
sted Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 as a test with actual user folders yes. but not live with a shared access folder no. Other than trying it I have no working solution in place as nobody has ever requested it or anything close so I did some testing out of curiosity got it working wrote up how to do it (I think) and left it alone
PR-UK Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 We use an IIS server running WebDAV, for iPad and Android any app that supports WebDAV will work (we use Documents by Reedle on the iPads).
cpjitservices Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 https://pydio.com/ Never managed to get pydio fully working.... need to re-visit
MicrodigitUK Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 We use an IIS server running WebDAV, for iPad and Android any app that supports WebDAV will work (we use Documents by Reedle on the iPads). WebDAV Navigator + App with the above IIS solution works really well. There is an iOS and Android version and it also supports MDM config for pushing out server settings to managed devices. We use it on all of our iPads and iPhones at work to access network shares. http://seanashton.net/webdav/
altecsole Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 We use WebDAV too for staff and pupils to access home folders from home. I just wish Google would allow WebDAV access from a Chromebook.
