Morning Guys,

Staff decided to get the kids an xbox 360 to play on during lunch hours.

I really don't know much about them to be honest. Couple of questions really?

We've tried to play an old game from the orginal console, & it says we don't have a harddrive? Have we got the basic model?

Can we simply by a hard drive as an add-on?

yes, you have to buy the special xbox one and download emulators to play original xbox games on it....

games consoles in schools = bad idea!

Who supervises the room where the kids play the console and how old are the kids? Do they have to earn the right to play the console?

The kids/teenagers are 11-16, we have 2 consoles which are both locked in seperate lockers below the TVs and are opened during break periods - the area is supervised during this time.

What do you mean special xbox one?

Says on the 360 box, XBOX 360 Arcade.

Does the Arcade part mean anything?

I've read that only 212 games of the old games work, knowing our luck we haven't got any of them!

So the best thing would be to purchase an add on hard drive similar to the link posted above? Correct?

there is only one you can buy and it is the one on the above link. It clicks in on the top.

XBOX 360 arcade is the 'core' version with just the console.

I'd watch kids for trying to steal the new hdd!

I'd watch for the kids trying to steal the whole lot! We've got Xbox 360s and they're under lock and key. With LCD screens as well and the gaming chairs, our little darlings are spoilt!

Your best bet for the orignal xbox games is to buy a couple of original xboxs! I just got one from freecycle but they're only about £10 or £15 on eBay and a little more 'durable' than the 360. The hard drive add-on (needed for the backwards compat as the old box has got one) is more expensive than a couple of the old one...

(plus you can do all the funky XBMC stuff :D)

I want to come to your school.. :D

i would only get the 20 gig hard drive for the xbox as you wont need the 120 as you wont have the system online will you?

Also just make sure you to add the backward compaitability update as thats where alot of people mess up by not installing that and like clarky2k3 has already mentioned there are only certain games that can be played at this time. however the games store is now been updated and we will see alot more of the original games on there.

Now i don't know if you are aware of this, but you can actually download original games off the xbox live marketplace so yh that would mean connecting to your network so it has internet access, but it will save you buying discs.

Regards

James
