MatthewL Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I want to add a domain into my O365 plan where I will have a mailbox but also want to create alias' that forward to other email addresses can it be done? So if I email [email protected] it will forward to his personal email of [email protected] Can this be done? It's for a group with no funds but want's to issue "nice" looking email addresses to certain members. We also then want to create a distribution list with all members on which I can add as contacts and then only allow certain email addresses to send to it as such, again can this be done?
altecsole Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 You can set a mailbox to automatically forward email to another email address; normally leaving a copy of the email in the original mailbox.
FN-GM Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 You can add addition email addresses to a mailbox in the exchange admin centre under the mailbox settings you want to add the address to.
MatthewL Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 What it is I want to create an email address that forwards to someone's personal email without having a mailbox, if this possible? The only way I can see it to work is create a distribution list and add them in that way.
DJ-1701 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Then @FN-GM's reply should be what you are after. As long as O365 manages the domain you want added, once the email address is added to the mailbox following @FN-GM's instructions it will pick up e-mails to that address, the account won't display that address on outgoing e-mails unless you set it up as the default email address, if it's not going to be used any more as a contactable address, just remove it from the account.
MatthewL Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Not sure if I made myself clear. I have users who are not on O365 but use the likes of Gmail and Hotmail for email. I don't want to add a SMTP to an email address, I want to create a forwarder so if someone emails say [email protected] it forwards its to [email protected] for example.

You might have to add the personal email address as a contact in Exchange.
