Boot from CD

Ive recently purchased a PCI IDE controller as the onboard IDE was a bit crap, it works fine and detects all my drives and CD Drives as it lists them at startup. The only problem is i cant get the computer to boot from CD, i cant see the CD drive in the bios but i can see the floppy and the hard disk i selected as primary, ive tried downloading Smart Boot Manager which should of let me boot from the cd drive but the option isnt there. The hard disks are setup up like this

 

• Primary Master - WDC 40GB
  
• Primary Slave - WDC 500GB
  
• Secondary Master - CD
  

 

Any ideas

How about leaving the CD plugged into the onboard IDE? If it's only a CD-ROM, the onboard IDE should be good enough.

 

The BIOS is presumably having a hard time detecting the CD drive during POST. Does it work once you're into Windows?

Dont know if it works in windows im trying to install the os on the hard drives,

Ill try with it on the onboard IDE and ill tell you the results in a bit
