Reset OS X Server

We have inherited an OS X Server setup which is used for our Mac Minis to interact with our Windows based network.

We don't really know how it works in its current setup and would like to fully reset it back to its original settings. Then we can go about setting the OS X Server back up to how we want it.

 

I have found this link, https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202523 which details the commands to enter to reset profile manager, or to reset profile manager and delete all data.

Has anyone tried this method before and had no issues with it?

 

When we have worked out how to reset the server would we then need to rebuild the mac clients, or could we just remove the remote managemet certificates and then add them to the newly set up server?

Resetting profile manager works fine, never any particular issues doing it. I would though, just wipe the server and start again. After many OS and Server.app upgrades, I've just started from scratch and everything is running so much smoother. I realise of course this is easy to say having a familiarity with OS X.

 

You 'just' need to go into System Preferences, remove the Profiles and then enrol the machines into your new Profile Manager. They (machine settings) will still work without profile manager running though so don't feel you need to rush to remove them.
