TwistedHelixis Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 All the teachers currently have an 8'' Samsung Galaxy Tab and I have been asked to upgrade these but I need some advice. We do have a Google Apps For Ed domain, so I was thinking of getting a tablet that would link in with GAFE, but it looks like the choice is limiting. I can't seem to find a definitive list of which tablets are supported, but on the Google page it lists Nexus 7 Asus Trans Pad 10 Dell Venue 10 HP Pro Slate 10 Although on another website it lists tablets like Samsung Tab Education version. 1. So can someone point me to a list of supported device 2. Are any of the supported devices any good? 3. Does having a GAFE linked device actually add much over a standard tablet?
CyberNerd Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Have a look at Chromebooks, they are much better suited and many now work as tablets with touchscreens and can run some android apps. 1
TwistedHelixis Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Hi @CyberNerd Would like to have a play with a Chromebook at some point. We do need tablets as it's for taking photographic evidence of the students work with notes etc and a tablet is the perfect type of device for this.
Arthur Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 it looks like the choice is limiting. Google has given up on Play for Education... www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/166256-google-quietly-shutters-play-education.html
SomeITBloke Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 With the poor line up of supported devices this was always on the cards. Hopefully this will mean more focus on Chromebooks. Now if someone would just hurry up and add a rear camera in the lid.

CyberNerd Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Unlike tablets, neither have rear facing cameras though. our kids use them for GCSE photography - it isn't a deal breaker.
