GeekyPete Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I need to replace the screen in one of these and the bezel doesn't seem to come off in the same way as other Toshibas. I was wondering if anyone has a service Manual for one or knows of a Teardown video that includes getting the screen out. I've trawled Youtube Vimeo etc but no luck. First time Youtube has let me down...
difinity Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It would be the first Toshiba I've seen that uses adhesive tape or glue, the front bezel is normally attached with clips and sometimes screws.
GeekyPete Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 The bezel unclips without screws. You can usually just lift it away at that point. But there isn't enough clearance between the hinges and the case to remove it. It looks like I'll have to split the case to get at the hinges. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.
NB9457 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Stick something flat, like a blade in the gap and feel for glue or adhesive, then carefully prise it off with a few small screwdrivers. Doesn't matter if you damage the screen too obviously!
SpaceInvader83 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Remove the plastic end caps from the hinges (Kensington lock goes through the one on the left), they slide away from the laptop with little force... remove 1 screw from either side under these hinge covers, unclip bezel as normal. If its a clearance issue then it's not worth trying to squeeze it past for the extra 10 minutes it will take to split the laptop and remove the lid completely before removing the bezel. Don't forget to remove the battery before doing screens, (which you will have to do if splitting the laptop) I've seen backlight fuses fail if this isn't done.

That's the trick! Those hinge covers looked like part of the bezel.
