SarumDave Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I'm looking at upgrading the school's Internet connection from a creaking ADSL to something Broadband or better. Being new to the education environment, I thought I'd start here by asking for any recommendations / good experiences when upgrading. The school comprises approx 120 pupils and 50 staff in a Widows environment. Any advice appreciated!
Gibson335 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 The best advice I can give you is avoid Capita like the plague. If you or other staff have the necessary skills, buying in a leased line or FTTC and then installing and managing your own firewall is the way to go I think. Take a look at Zen Internet as well.
bossman Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 @SarumDave We eventually went with BT with a dedicated fibre channel which has a guaranteed 99.9% uptime with its SLA, we have 100MB soon to be 200MB and as yet in the last 3.5 years we have had no outage's We moved from our LA as their system was constantly falling down and causing problems especially around the online exams and this is what drove us to seek better quality and reliability from our ISP. PM me for costs
Wave9_Lee Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 We're more than happy to provide you with a quote for fibre or fttc with an on-premise firewall that you can manage (or we manage) as required, cheers Lee

What devices are you running/supporting?

We've moved over a hundred schools from SWGFL to our network so do let me know if you'd like a quote as we've many happy customers here on Edugeek. Thanks Dave

Hi, we'd be more than happy to quote you, but even more importantly given your question put you in touch with the hundreds of schools who have moved over to us in the SWGFL areas and you can find out for yourself just how good we are and whether we live up to our promises, and we could also put you in touch with our partners in the area who support hundreds of schools throughout the SWGFL area too. Just PM me if you'd like more information.
