Outlook password prompts with Office365

Hi everyone,

 

Is there anyway to stop password prompts when using Office365 with Outlook? I have looked into ADFS using SSO but as far as I can see even with Outlook 2016 it still prompts the user for their password when launching Outlook for the first time.

 

We don't use roaming profiles here but has anyone got it not to prompt for a password when opening Outlook with roaming profiles?

 

I don't mind if a user has to put their password into Outlook once but everytime they logon is going to make people shout at me.

 

Any help would be appriciated. We are using Outlook 2010 at the minute so if I can get it to work without password prompt even better.

check the filtering, i have seen a few issues with sophos web filtering blocking the autodiscover address. Trusting the site resolves the issue.

@teklogic are you saying with your setup then that no password prompt is requested and you don't have ADFS setup? also what version of outlook at what kind of profiles are you using?

Apparently its possible to make Outlook work with ADFS and not ask for a password. But I can't find out how.

Thanks @FN-GM I'd love to find out as well. I have setup ADFS in the past but got rid of it as it seemed to offer nothing for us. If you find out anything please let me know and I'll do the same.

Generally they don't use roaming profiles, because they become bloated. Password in each time. In the end staff used outlook on their fixed PC's and students used OWA.

All you need is ADFS setup and to set a single registry key on your workstations. The registry key is called EnableADAL and enables Modern Authentication for Office 2013, think it is already enabled in Office 2016 so you just need ADFS.

If you are running Office 2013 have you installed all updates before setting the enableADAL reg key.

Smoothwall SSL inspection was causing this. Sorted it out and it now works a treat!

What did you do? Just run the command on your 365 Tennant & it work after that?

Run this command on Exchange Online Powershell - Set-OrganizationConfig -OAuth2ClientProfileEnabled:$true

Did you updated your Sign On Assistant with the newest version? I think it changed significantly when they integrated O365 and Azure authentication.

 

I have never used it on our deployments.
