Windows 10 - Secondary School Deployment

Hi All,

 

I was wondering if some of you could help , i have a number of features I would like to remove from Windows 10 before deploying it to a test area.

 

I would like to remove the following :

 

Access to the Settings Application

Remove Settings from the Start Menu

Disable First Logon Screen for All users

 

 

Let me know if you know of anyway to do this using GPO's or Scripts , desperately trying to get a test Win 10 image together in the next couple of weeks.

You should be able to do all those things with a Group Policy, just download the arms files and take a look as I'm sure they'll be in the same place they were in 8 or at least somewhere similar.

I have checked the ADMX files and they don't seem to mention the Windows 10 Files

Then the settings will most likely be generic and work with all supported operating systems. The ones for Windows 8 don't specifically say Windows 8 setting on them. You need to build a test pc, bung it in a new OU in AD and create a test GPO and try the settings out.

All three are possible - the first two you can disable access to Settings completely, just as you would Control Panel.

 

User Config > Admin Templates > Control Panel - Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC Settings

 

You can disable the first sign in animation as follows:

 

Computer Config > Admin Templates > System > Logon - Show first sign in animation

 

To be honest, hiding it solves one problem, but it still doesn't make any dramatic difference to profile generation and logon speeds (for first time users).
