Hi All,

 

I need your advise with something Youtube downloading can you do it under the teachers expectations to copyright.

Or is it a no no end of because i am being told that as long as you put were the video is from you can do it.

 

Can I have some advise on this.

The title (The word NO) should give you a clue

 

If there is a link to download on the official YouTube site, you can download - although that doesn't give you the right to copy or reuse. Third party tools are always a NO.

Seems to be the thing lately, we too recently hit the nail on the head - "NO".

It isn't quite as simple as "NO". It depends on whether or not there is anywhere else you can legitimately get the video from for a price. So, if there is no other place to get that video (which is highly unlikely), you can legally use it, so long as you also provide attribution. If you can get it somewhere else for a price, then you are required to buy it.

 

Youtube's terms of service aren't completely relevant, as the law of the land overrides private contracts.

Ah, that's the question isn't it? There's no standard way that I know of. Best you could do is reasonable research and document it. Easier to say no...

i had one last week here that came from Hampshire constabulary regarding Prevent PSHE assems. they had ran out of dvd copys for schools, so pointed to youtube and allowed it for download.
