Digital Signage

Hello,

 

How do you manage your digital signage for TV Screens with minimal computers.

 

At the moment all of our TV Screens are running via USB sticks which are updated frequently, this has been the case for the last couple of years, i'm looking for an easier solution as this isn't really practical in the long run.

 

Any help at all would be great. I'm looking at having around 6 TV Screens running with minimal PC's.

I'm currently running some Chromebooks with Google's Chrome Sign Builder for our digital signage. The Chrome devices will have to be managed as part of a Google Apps domain (£19 per device). We've had a few Chromebooks with damaged screens, so rather than throw them out, I just used the HDMI out to output to the various screens. If I need any more, I'll use Chromebits.

 

All of the configuration is done through the web browser. Anything can be scheduled as long as it is available on the Internet. We run a YouTube playlist with events that have happened in school, and I just change the schedule if we have open evenings etc.

We're using Intel NUCs with Planet E-Stream.

We've got two OneLan boxes running two systems, one with four screens in the main building, one running one screen in reception...

 

Works really well, never had any problems, but depending what you want you need, you could look into Xibo which is quite popular and Open Source and runs from a PC...

I've also got my eye on Rise Vision. Haven't actually used it, but if we get asked for more complex signage than we've got, I'll dig a bit deeper.
