Windows 10 default profile breaks search

Hi,

 

I am modifying the Windows 10 default profile using the official Microsoft way as described here - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn898521(v=vs.85).aspx

 

However when the new default profile is deployed the search doesn't work at all. Use the default Windows 10 default profile it works fine.

 

Any thoughts please?

Are you using the copy profile command in sysprep? if so I believe that is causing your grief.

I am, because I need to modify the default profile.

I'm sure I read somewhere (sorry, can't find it now) that this can happen if you run Windows updates before you copy the profile. Try configuring and copying the profile and then run updates.

Tried that. I did it on a machine with no updates installed at all.

Are you using the copy profile command in sysprep? if so I believe that is causing your grief.

 

Do you also have problems with Edge not working if so it is indeed the the copy profile in sysprep causing the issue. It's a known bug that began when the November TH2 update was released. Check this post:

Still no fix that I'm aware of...
