Connected/Disconnected indicator at logon screen

Hi All

 

You know the Disconnected/Connected indicator on RM PCs at the logon screen? Basically it tells you whether or not your PC has an IP address or not. (I think)

 

Does anyone know how I might achieve a similar indicator on a non-RM PC? I understand it can be done with Sysinternals GBInfo, but I'm dammed if I can find any info on it.

Starting with Windows 8, there is also a network connectivity icon on the bottom right of the login screen.
