Yeah I think that's my only real complant with the company, it's very easy to accidently get signed up to a 3 year contract with no escape.

Other than that, we've used KKS for years & found it very useful - They've just added the ability to send digital documents from within SIMS (i.e reports) so we've done a trial run of that for Year 13 that's gone pretty well. Haven't looked into the My Ed app yet tho as I think it's an additional cost (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

How do you do this in SIMS? I've just had my boss come to tell me RS Connect can do this after printing close to 4-5000 pages of reports in 2 weeks...

There's a program that you install on your pc which can grab the documents out of the "linked documents" within SIMS.

So basically you produce the report, upload it to the students then run the program which will hunt those documents down (only the ones you specify) and upload them to RS Connect Ed for sending out to the specified students.

To get the program you need to phone RS Connect Ed - it feels a little beta still but works a treat - they'll give you a download link and instructions (we had a phone tutorial by one of their experts). But it's actually really easy to use.

Hi Bob

Why do you feel it's still a little beta?

If you're from RSConnectEd you'll know what the interface looks like for the connectEd gateway - also the fact that it doesn't have the polish of the website (which is great).

Mine's been crashing just trying to grab y11 exam timetables recently.

It's a great little app but I agree with Xebec above - watch out for the Ts and Cs - after a slick sales pitch we signed up for a 5 year contract last year but have since become part of a MAT that uses another product.... RSConnected say that the only buyout open to us is pay off the £4800 for the remaining 4 years. On this point, I wouldnt recommend them to anyone Im afraid.

I understand the inital contract length, but they really do need a slap for the 3 year automatic rollover contract thing. It ought to be illegal. Edited by DrCheese
