Will I need a new PSU?

I'm currently using a Corsair TX 620W modular PSU. I've just bought myself a 40" 4K TV (Samsung UE40JU6400) and I'm planning on buying a GeForce 970 GPU to drive the newly required resolution. Based on my PC specs (in signature), will I be needing a new PSU, or will the current 620W suffice?

Nope!

 

The GTX 970 uses around 192 watts at load in a multi-monitor configuration. The other components in your PC would be somewhere in the region of 160 watts (at load) so your current PSU will be sufficient.

I'm glad I won't need another PSU, the TV and GPU (still to buy!) have already broken the bank balance!

The manufacturer's website doesn't mention the fan turns off when idle so I think it is safe to assume it doesn't.

 

Asus' STRIX cards have a 0dB fan mode...
