"winpe initialization failed 0x80040154" can anyone shed any light on why I am getting this, I am running sccm 2012 my clients reboot after running the task sequnce from software centre the clients download the boot image "which comes from the windows 10 adk" reboots into win pe and then I get "winpe initialization failed 0x80040154" cant look the smstslog cause I cant use the keyboard or mouse?

Is it pulling down the correct boot image from sccm (x64 / x32)

 

Also, do you have enough ram in the machine? Check the size of the boot image.

Whilst I have no direct knowledge of that error message I general only get error messages when there is either a. a hard drive fault or b. the clock is out of sync.

I have also had this when the bios time is incorrect. You could also try updating your boot images.
