Does this exist?

 

We want something on the student desktop that allows them to type a message in, click send and it goes to a single email account, which would be monitored by our safeguarding officer.

For example, if the student is being bullied, they could quickly type a message or if they've heard a student is talking about suicide and are worried, they could notify the member of staff.

 

Basically, not long ago we were told to cancel our VLE and live monitoring 'Securus' system. (I know mental).

 

Does anyone have anything like this in place?

Another thing that Impero does - it has a Confide button that does exactly as you request.

We use Impero's confide button, it works well.

We also have a form on our website which is only advertised through home access plus (so the kids have to login so we can trace it) which is just a standard web form that emails the DSL

Haven't used any of their products before so I can't vouch for them, but Fortres Grand offers such a product:

One more question. Is it a legal requirement in a school to have some sort of monitoring of the system ?

 

Ofsted see this type of system as an indicator of good safeguarding practices - so it's not legally required, but is a good thing to do.

 

We used SWGfL's Boost. It includes an anonymous reporting tool (pupils submit issues via web page or text message), an online reputation alerting tool (it monitors the web for the school name, alerts you to new results and suggests whether they are good or bad) and some general esafety guidance. It only costs a couple of hundred a year and is available to all schools nationally. http://boost.swgfl.org.uk

Really simple way to do it... A 'mailto' shortcut on the student desktop such as the below...

Trusting the students are allowed access to a mail client, such as Outlook this will automatically launch the application and create an email to the relevant address and with the subject of your choice.

You can even extend this to populate some of the body such as...
