Publicly accessible Calendar for Public contribution

Hi guys, we have a service that is offered to other schools in the area. I've been asked to make that service bookable online.

We have Office 365 for education.

My first thought was to create a subsite of our public website, with a calendar on it. However I cannot seem to make it so that visitors to the site can add "events" to it.

I suppose this is by design.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can make a bookable service via Office 365?

My idea was to have a Calendar grid, then visitors to the site could add an event to "book" a place on the service. Any thoughts?
