Secure Wireless LAN (WLAN) Products | Fortinet

It does not say to me "we have deep expertise and knowledge, great technology and a good track record"

Instead it says:

"Yeah we can do wireless too if you really insist, because we are a company lead by MBAs and we understand 'markets' we don't really understand tech or the people that make it work"

If you can't be bothered to promote the product properly, it is dead. RIP.

Yes, I'm watching what they do next with Meru. It's an interesting acquisition and they're clearly trying to improve on the Secure Wireless LAN that is mentioned above. It may also be a response to Cisco's acquisition of Meraki.

Hmm. Cisco's purchase of Meraki was because Meraki created a new market: almost enterprise class capable distributed networks that could be managed by a Windows guy. (i.e. lower cost TCO than one requiring three dedicated CCNAs to design, build and maintain). They wanted in. Note how strong the Meraki brand remains.

HP seem to have learned their lessons, the Aruba name remains and they have even released an Aruba switch running Provision ASICS. (wither Comware?)

With Fortinet, it looks much more like the Belden/Juniper approach.

I wonder if that is the point, that the wireless tech has reached a pinnacle whereby integration with security products and MDM is the only competitive way forward ?

I'm watching with interest because our new school was supposed to be getting a Meru wireless network next year, but due to the buyout by Fortinet, they switched over to Aerohive instead in case Fortinet didn't keep the current Meru focus.
